WORKSHOPS

Workshops at the 6th IDPA Congress are designed to provide interactive, hands-on learning experiences that complement the scientific sessions and keynote addresses. These workshops are tailored to meet the educational needs of pediatricians, therapists, educators, and other stakeholders involved in the care and development of children with developmental disorders. Each workshop focuses on practical skills, evidence-based interventions, and collaborative approaches to enhance professional practice and outcomes for children.

GLOBAL SCALES OF EARLY DEVELOPMENT (GSED) [English/Spanish]

DESCRIPTION

The Global Scales for Early Development (GSED) is a new package by the World Health Organization that enables us to monitor the development of children up to three years of age, in a standardized way. Hear from expert teams, how this culturally neutral tool represents a global solution to collating data. It is a tool that enables researchers, programs and countries to change the way we measure early childhood development thus strengthening the support for investment in young children and their families.

International Guide for Monitoring and Supporting Child Development Course (GMCD) [English]

DESCRIPTION

The international GMCD is a unique package that pioneers an individualized, comprehensive approach to monitor and support children’s development. Based on bioecological, family-centered, strengths-based theories, the GMCD acknowledges families as experts of their children’s development and supports service providers in strengthening a compassionate, trusting, working partnership with the family around supporting child development. The GMCD uses an open-ended interview technique and strengths-based, individualized, culturally adaptable interventions. To date, the GMCD training has included service providers from many countries. This one-day course will provide participants with information, skills and attitudes to use the GMCD and a roadmap on how to incorporate the GMCD in their communities and countries.

Gender, Sexuality, and Neurodiversity

DESCRIPTION

The topics of gender and sexuality can be sensitive in many parts of the world and can present as controversial and taboo for health care providers, parents and patients. As child developmental professionals, we are regarded as a trusted source of information for children, adolescents, parents, families, educators, other professionals and policy makers.With our current understanding of the increased prevalence of gender and sexuality variations in neurodiverse populations it is particularly relevant for professionals to be up to date with the science, research and practice of supporting these children . This workshop will provide the theory around our current knowledge of gender and sexuality, and also provide a practical immersion with tools, skills and strategies for clinicians. The workshop will be run by Vibha Krishnamurthy and Ramzi Nasir, developmental pediatricians with a special interest in gender and sexuality in neurodiverse children

DESCRIPTION

ISSOP is a global organization composed of social pediatricians and child health professionals collaborating through research, awareness and communication. ISSOP is cosponsoring the 6th IDPA Congress. In this full-day workshop, participants will hear from speakers and engage in in-depth conversations about pressing global concerns such as armed conflict, migration, and climate change and their impact on childhood and child development.
